A Chapter of My Personal Story

When I was a child, I was sexually abused by a family member. I outed him while he continued abusing others in the family at the time. As a result of my speaking up, he was sent to prison. Yet, I was the one who brought shame to the family was the lie I bought into. Meanwhile, I was just a kid.

Throughout my teens and 20's, I continued to carry a lot of inner shame and guilt surrounding the events. I went through a lot of self-abuse and spoke absolutely horribly to myself. As I got older,  there have been many realizations along the way. Here are a few:

One, he doesn't own me. Nobody does.

Two, I am way more than what somebody did to me.

Three, I am important here.

Four, I love myself.

My Experience

I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years. From when I started, I had always wanted to be a yoga teacher. It took some years to be able to make this wish possible.
